Lifestyle August 26, 2022
Jennifer Hudson is getting frank about parenthood.
Chicago-born Jennifer grew up in a family of singers, including an aunt who loves to sing at cookouts. Jennifer found fame on “American Idol” Season 3, and she has since gone on to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award. Her son David has come along for much of that ride, but Jenn’s aware his is not the average childhood experience.

“With me and my kid, I was like, ‘You’re growing up completely different than how I grew up,’ although I guess I’m the reason he’s growing up the way he’s growing up,” JHud shared in “The Jennifer Hudson Show” studio. “Nobody in my family grew up the way he did… the way he is.”
The former panelist on “The Voice” also shared that she and her assistant/best friend would buy clothes for talent shows with his grandmother’s credit card, keep the tags on, and return them later.
“We didn’t have much money… I would wear the clothes and we’d take them back to the store. So there was a chapter in my life we did all of that.”
As for nowadays, Jennifer doesn’t even get around to wearing many of the clothes in her closet. “I never take the tags off much because I’m always shopping,” she revealed, explaining that shopping for her wardrobe is her reward for working hard.
