Max Greenfield Uses Gift Wrapping to ‘Trick’ His ‘Expensive’ Son
October 18, 2022
Max Greenfield has a clever way to get books into his son Ozzie’s hands.
On Tuesday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” the star of “The Neighborhood” told JHud about his new children’s book, “This Book Is Not a Present,” which is dedicated to children who do not want to be gifted books!
One of those kids is Max’s son, who he described as “7 and expensive.”
Max told Jennifer Hudson that he once gave Ozzie a wrapped present and the child initially thought it was a Lego video game.
The actor said that after tearing apart the wrapping paper, Ozzie “got really angry” when he discovered that the “gift” was a book.

“[The book is about] walking kids through opening a gift, [they find out] it’s a book, and they’re disappointed,” he said. “They’ve explored those feelings and are maybe happy [afterward].”
“My son doesn’t want to pick up a book,” JHud said in response, referencing her 13-year-old Little David.
Max also spoke about how he has allowed his daughter Lilly to be on TikTok — sort of.
Clarifying that she isn’t allowed to have her own account, Max said Lilly “begged” him to join the platform and the two have starred in dance videos.

“Your daughter is a great teacher,” JHud said.
JHud shared how Little David often comes home wanting to try different foods because of what he saw on TikTok. Max said Lilly is also inspired to do odd viral trends.
“She sees stuff, I don’t know where she gets it. I opened the freezer [and] there are Doritos.”
However, Max said that TikTok can sometimes share helpful advice.
“Some are smart,” he admitted. “Wow, I didn't know how to tie my laces [until seeing this TikTok].”
