Jennifer Has a Sweet Gift for Hero Mom Who Helped Car Crash Victim While 9 Months Pregnant
October 21, 2022
Jennifer Hudson is shining a spotlight on a woman who rushed to the aid of a car crash victim.
On Friday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” JHud spoke with Megan Warfield, a mom from Baltimore, Maryland, who was 9 months pregnant when she was involved in a six-vehicle car crash earlier this month.
Describing the day as a “wild Monday,” Megan — who was then pregnant with her third child — was coming home from a golf tournament honoring her late father when she and her mom got into a wreck.
“After the cars stopped, I looked at my mom [and asked,] ‘Are you okay?’”
After Megan and her mom confirmed that they were not physically harmed, Megan — a member of the Bowleys Quarters volunteer fire department — noticed that a woman was trapped in an overturned car.
“It’s drilled into me to stay cool, calm, and collected,” she said about her demeanor at the time.
After she had someone call 911 to get additional resources, Megan went inside the overturned car and attended to the victim.
In this moment, however, Megan said she reminded herself that she was pregnant and held on to the woman to prevent further injuries.
Eventually, first responders arrived and took over the scene. One of the responders was Megan’s boyfriend, a paramedic who did not know she was involved in the crash.
Megan recalled to Jennifer that as her boyfriend tended to the other victim, she felt “cramping,” which a sign that she was going into labor.
“I was going to mosey on home,” she joked.

“She’s great,” Megan said about her newborn. “She’s just smiling. She’s so content.”
To celebrate CJ’s arrival, Jennifer gave Megan a cute onesie that appropriately read, “My mom is a hero.”

“She saved somebody and had a baby,” Jennifer said. “That is so awesome. You’re such a hero.”
