JHud Surprises a Superfan with the Ultimate Wedding Gift

Jennifer Hudson loves surprising her superfans!
On Thursday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” JHud shared how she was moved to reach out to Ronnette Williams, a fan who has been saving up to fly across the country and join the studio audience.
Ronnette served as a crossing guard for the New York Police Department but is currently out of work due to an injury.

View Story“Dear Jennifer, you are someone I look up to,” Ronnette wrote in a personal message to Jennifer. “I remember going to see you in ‘Dreamgirls.’ I was going through a lot at the time but hearing you sing touched my soul. Your voice motivates me, and your songs have taught me to stand strong. So, I’m saving my money to fly to Los Angeles so I can come see your show. Love, Ronnette from Brooklyn, New York.”
Though Ronnette thought she was going to chat with a producer on Zoom, she instead spoke to Jennifer — and her live studio audience!
Needless to say, Ronnette was absolutely shocked when she saw Jennifer and quickly got emotional.
“Hi Ronnette! It’s me, Jennifer. How are you? Did I surprise you?” Jennifer asked, to which Ronnette replied, “Yes, you did.”

View StoryDuring their chat, Ronnette revealed she’s married, has a son, and played Jenn’s song “Spotlight” at her 2013 wedding.
Immediately, Jenn felt a connection with Ronnette, as they both love the color pink and because Jenn’s sister Julia, AKA “Ju Ju,” also helps children by being a school bus driver.
After Jenn learned that both she and Ronnette are animal lovers, Ronnette brought out her adorable Brussels griffon, who — like mom — was dressed in a fabulous pink ensemble.
“I could babysit. I love me some animals,” Jenn said, noting that she has two dogs and two cats.
When Jenn asked Ronnette how much she has saved up to see “The Jennifer Hudson Show” in Los Angeles, she said $300.
That’s when Jenn surprised her with a belated wedding present!
