JHud Is Seriously Impressed by 5-Year-Old Flag Genius Who Learned Sign Language as a Baby

Jennifer Hudson and her studio audience received an intensive lesson in geography from a 5-year-old!

On Thursday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” JHud got the chance to interview young genius Lena Avery Castro, who went viral on TikTok because of her passion for learning.

“I feel a bit nervous, but more excited,” Lena told Jennifer, who responded, “I’m nervous because I’m not nearly as smart as you are. You’re going to teach us a lot today?”

While speaking with Lena’s mom Madeline Rivera, Jenn discovered that Lena started learning sign language when she was just 6 months old and signed her first word — “more” — at 9 months.

“She picks things up pretty quick. And we kept going from there. And it just grew from sign language to actual signs [like Walmart, Target, and Nickelodeon],” Madeline told Jennifer.

Eventually, Lena began learning states and capitals, and then became a full-fledged expert on country flags.

Despite her IQ, Lena is still a child at heart and said her favorite subject in school is “lunch”!

Later in the episode, Jenn tested Lena’s knowledge on flags, and was wowed by her poise.

“I love your confidence, girl!” JHud explained.

When Jenn showed Lena a series of flags, she got every corresponding country correct, including Ireland, Yemen, Liberia, the Isle of Man, and — of course — the U.S.A.!

“Has anyone ever beat you?” Jenn asked, to which Lena responded, “Nope!”
