JHud Received a Very Special Birthday Gift from Her 8 Boys — AKA Camp David
Lifestyle September 19, 2022
All eight of Jennifer Hudson’s “boys” surprised her with a meaningful gift on her birthday.
On Monday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” JHud detailed a recent visit to her hometown of Chicago in which she celebrated her birthday month. Yes, month — because why would you wait 365 days just to celebrate one day?
During the festivities, Jenn’s son David Jr. made his mom a pound cake using a recipe from grandmother Darnell Donerson but with flavors that Jenn is “sure he learned from TikTok.”

“You know, you put it out there and you receive it back when you get it back. When you think a thought and it comes back to you in different forms,” Jenn said about her philosophy. “You got to speak it in your day because it’s in what you say.”
On the subject of “Camp David,” “Mama Hud,” as Jenn likes to call herself, says she created a group for her eight boys so they can socialize during the pandemic.
“So, I rounded up seven of [David Jr.’s] cousins,” Jenn said, while joking that she likes to collect other people’s children. “That’s Camp David, and they do everything together.”
