Yvonne Orji on Hosting Funerals: 'All I Know Is My Checks Cleared, Jennifer'
September 14, 2022
Yvonne Orji is more than just an Emmy-nominated actress and a comedian…
On Wednesday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” the “Insecure” star stopped by JHud’s couch to promote her upcoming HBO comedy special, “Yvonne Orji: A Whole Me.”
Though audiences know her for playing Molly Carter on the Issa Rae co-created show, Yvonne dished that she hosted funerals in between acting gigs.
While this might come as a shock to many, Yvonne told Jennifer that her uncle owned a funeral home, and that it was a job that allowed her to practice mic skills. Additionally, the funny lady has hosted weddings as well as bar and bat mitzvahs. Yvonne says that if the check clears, she’s game!

Her mom and dad previously came to a show in 2006 and were NOT happy when their daughter aired out their dirty laundry onstage!

Overall, her parents enjoyed the show and were so proud that a long line of people came to watch their daughter’s performance.
But when Jennifer asked Yvonne what her family would say is the most annoying thing about her, she admitted that she was a snitch!
Being the only girl and the youngest of her siblings, Yvonne would tell on her brother who would sneak out to the movies and not bring back any candy. She even joked that she acted as her family’s canary.
