JHud certainly knows what she’s talking about. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Jennifer didn’t start her career on the stage... but at the drive-thru at Burger King.
Jennifer kept working on her craft and was eventually introduced to the world as a competitor on “American Idol.” Jennifer later eventually won an Academy Award for portraying Effie White in the hit 2006 musical drama “Dreamgirls,” adapted from the 1981 Broadway musical of the same name.
Fast-forward to now, Jennifer is a bona fide EGOT winner, earning a 2009 Best R&B Album Grammy for “Jennifer Hudson,” a 2017 Best Musical Theater Album Grammy for “The Color Purple,” a 2021 Daytime Emmy for producing “Baba Yaga,” and a 2022 Best Musical Tony Award for producing “A Strange Loop.”
The same year she became an EGOT, she also turned daytime TV host for “The Jennifer Hudson Show.”
“What would it hurt? At least you will be able to look back and say, ‘You know what, I did it.’ And never allow fear to keep you grounded,” Jennifer told the fan.
Never give up, y’all!
