Jennifer Surprises a Single Mom Who Survived Breast Cancer

A single mother who always puts others first is lighting up the studio this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Sisters Stacy Harper and Lakisha Bradley, from Fayetteville, Arkansas, thought they were coming to do an interview for our website. Little did they know they were going to meet Jennifer Hudson and the audience.

Previously, Lakisha, the CEO of MY-T-BY-DESIGN Therapeutic Art Studios, wrote in to the show to tell us about her sister, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2020 before her 40th birthday. Despite her health battle, Stacy — who runs a nonprofit called Light House Solutions — continued to help others and brought resources to families in her area.

On Thursday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” JHud surprised them in person!

During their chat, Stacy spoke about her diagnosis, revealing she had a dream where she was in a doctor’s office and was told that her lab results would go to an oncologist.

Days later, Stacy was sitting in the same doctor’s office as the one in her dream, and after undergoing a biopsy, she discovered she had Stage 2 breast cancer.

Following this news, Stacy had a mastectomy and had 11 lymph nodes removed. She also said she caught COVID three times, was hit by a dump truck, and, at one point, “died.”

Today, Stacy is cancer-free, and she was recently recognized as Northwest Arkansas Woman of the Year for her community service.
