Jennifer’s Purple Coat Is a Prime Example of Terrific Tailoring

Jennifer Hudson’s fashion is pure magic!
On Thursday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” JHud looked elegant and enviable in a purple Hanna Fielder overlay coat, a black Alice + Olivia dress, Falke tights, and Black Suede Studio mid-thigh boots.
According to wardrobe stylist Layla Witmer, Jenn’s dazzling duster didn’t start off as a coat.
The piece was originally a dress that was turned into a blazer-like coat. Talk about a transformation!
Of course, this isn’t the first time Jenn’s stylists have been crafty with their creations. Last month, fellow stylist Verneccia “V” Étienne tailored the sleeves of a vintage yellow long-sleeved turtleneck and turned them into gloves.

Jenn also accessorized her look with chain bracelets and two show-stopping necklaces, including one that read, “J.”
During the episode, Jenn got to interview the fabulous Laverne Cox, who shared details about her E! show, “If We’re Being Honest.”
When asked which guest she was excited to talk to, Laverne said Sheryl Lee Ralph but admitted she was “nervous” to chat with the “Abbott Elementary” star.

View Story“It was a dream to have her here,” Jenn said about Sheryl’s “Jennifer Hudson Show” appearance last month.
Though Sheryl made headlines when she gave an epic speech after winning the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Emmy, Laverne said she was most “emotional” after finding out about her nomination.
“She [has been] in the business for 40 years,” Laverne explained.
