JHud Shares the Best and ‘Not So Great’ Things About Having Her Own Talk Show
Lifestyle October 04, 2022
Jennifer Hudson is opening up about what she loves — and what she doesn’t love — about having her own talk show.
On Tuesday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” JHud said in her opening monologue that the great thing about having her own show is she gets to meet people she admires, including LL Cool J!
Before Jenn got the chance to interview the legendary rapper, she told her studio audience that she grew up listening to his music, and when she got older, she started to dress like him as well.
Jenn revealed she had a ring that said “Jenny K” — a riff on her name Jennifer Kate Hudson — that was modeled after the MC’s iconic jewelry. In addition to having chains and links like LL, Jenn also walked around with a boom box.

“That was the 9 a.m. turnup,” she said. “If we went to a concert, that’s what we would do. Every office needs a start-up like that. That would be awesome.”
However, one of the "not so great" things about having her own talk show is that Jenn gets a lot of “notes.”

“It happens a lot with the producers. ‘Wow, I don’t know what’s going on.’ Sometimes I can’t figure it out,” she admitted.
Using her knowledge as an actress, Jennifer said, “Everything has its own subtext,” and explained that she uses “wow” in a variety of different ways.
“Sometimes it’s ‘Wow, it’s amazing,’” she cites as an example. “[Another example is that it’s] almost been a month since we started shooting the show. ‘Oh, wow! It’s a whole month.’”
For Jennifer, saying “wow” is just like other singers being known for their signature riffs. (Think Michael Jackson’s “Hee-hee!”) It prompted Jennifer to do her best impressions of other singers — including Mariah Carey and Jenn’s “American Idol” co-star Fantasia Barrino!
