10 Things to Know About New Bachelor Zach Shallcross

The new Bachelor has been revealed and Jennifer Hudson has the scoop!

On Friday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” JHud sat down with Zach Shallcross — the former “Bachelorette” Season 19 contestant who is now the star of “The Bachelor” Season 27.

During their interview, Jennifer got to grill Zach about what he’s looking for in a wife, his favorite weird food combination, and his go-to karaoke song!

1. Zach’s Uncle Is a Famous Actor!

You might recognize Zach’s uncle from the small screen! While speaking to Jenn, Zach confirmed that he is related to actor Patrick Warburton, who has appeared in sitcoms such as “Seinfeld” and “Less Than Perfect.” However, Zach simply knows him as “Puddy.”

2. Zach Found Out He Was Going to Be the Next Bachelor at Work

From one job to the next! Zach told JHud that he received the good news while at work in Austin, Texas. Zach joked that he initially thought the call was coming from a wrong number.

3. His Sisters Are Die-Hard ‘Bachelor’ Fans!

Zach’s sisters are proud members of Bachelor Nation! He told JHud that they are “die-hard” “Bachelor” fans and totally freaked out when cameras came to their house during Zach’s Hometown date with now-ex/Season 19 co-“Bachelorette” Rachel Recchia.

Zach said his mom is “so happy” about his new journey, while his dad is more reserved about the situation.

4. Zach Is Proud of His Age

Zach’s maturity was called into question during his stint on “The Bachelorette.” On Season 19, Rachel thought he was too young to get married, even though she is only 4 months older than he is.

When JHud asked Zach if he had a message for Rachel, he responded, “I was 25 at the time. What I have to say is I’m 26.”

5. He Knows Exactly What He’s Looking For in a Wife

When Jennifer asked Zach what he’s looking for in a partner (the question everyone wants to know!), the reality star said he wants someone who is kind and compassionate.

6. He’s Got a Crush on a Pop Star

On a similar note, Zach revealed that his celebrity crush is pop star Dua Lipa, who — for the record — is 27 years old. Only one year older!

Jenn said — without hesitation — that her celebrity crush is legendary singer Tom Jones, her co-judge on “The Voice U.K.”

7. Zach’s Favorite Weird Food Combination May Freak You Out

Not for the faint at heart! When asked about his favorite weird food combination, Zach said he sometimes likes to eat pancakes — with mustard!

After finding out about the unique dish from his grandmother, Zach says the meal is the ultimate combo of sweet and savory flavors.

Though JHud likes mustard —as it’s one of the few condiments that has little to zero calories — she has never tried it on pancakes.

8. Zach Would Go on THIS Reality TV Show!

Other than “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” Zach said he is game to being a contestant on “Survivor.” In fact, Zach told JHud that he would totally eat bugs with mustard.

9. Zach’s Nickname Will Melt Your Heart!

Zach told JHud that his family nickname is “Roo,” which is short for “Zacharoo”! How cute! In fact, his aunt calls him “Roo” all the time.

When JHud asked if his future wife will call him that, he said she might.

10. Zach’s Go-To Karaoke Song Is a Country Bop!

Did we mention Zach can sing? When asked about his go-to karaoke song, Josh said it was “Your Man” by country artist Josh Turner. Yee-haw!
