Randy Jackson Talks About His Kids and Says Simon Cowell Changed After Having a Son
Lifestyle September 22, 2022
Randy Jackson and Jennifer Hudson are reminiscing about their time on “American Idol”!
The former talent show judge appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” Thursday, where the host told him she used to love his critiques and valued his judgment because of how he used his expert knowledge to give demonstrative feedback.
The reunion also sparked chat about Simon Cowell — who joined Jennifer for her show premiere.
“How was he?” Randy asked.
“He was different!” Jennifer noted.
Addressing how Simon had changed since Jennifer first met him when she was a contestant on “Idol” 18 years ago, Randy asked, “Do you think it’s his kid? Maybe his son. He mellowed a bit — it was so long ago.”
As a picture of Simon and his son Eric flashed up on the screen, Jennifer said the youngster looks like a “bitty Simon.”
“You have children?” she asked Randy. The star has three kids, two girls and a boy. “Are they musicians?” Jennifer probed the producer. “My son is a producer, DJ, drummer,” Randy told her. “My middle child is a graphic artist and photographer,” And his eldest is in the business, too — she’s a film editor.
Elsewhere in the interview, Randy told the host about his lifelong struggle with his health. Randy said it was only in the past 20 years that he lost 120 pounds, which he says he needed to because of type 2 diabetes. “My back had issues,” he told Jennifer.
“Weight loss is 80% diet,” the star continued, adding that when people are scared, depressed or worried, they can satiate themselves with food. But Randy believes that controlling emotions is key, and that’s why psychiatry works.
“We started to get people focused on gut health,” Randy explained about Go With Your Gut Day on September 23.
