Surprise! Fisk University Women’s Gymnastics Team Gets a $25K Donation
September 19, 2022
Who run the world?? The amazing gymnasts of Fisk University!
On Monday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Jennifer Hudson teamed up with hair brand Aunt Jackie’s Curls and Coils to give the deserving athletes of the first-ever HBCU women’s gymnastics team some glam touch-ups.
During their chat with Jennifer, the young women discussed their rigorous schedules, and how they practice at a gym 5 to 7 miles away, four days a week. Though they admit it can be difficult balancing gymnastics with their academics, they are passionate, hard workers who are determined to be the best student-athletes they can be.
When asked to share their favorite part of being on a team, the ladies said they enjoy being with people who not only look like them, but who love, support, and can lean on each other for advice when life gets tough.
After they shared their inspiring stories, Aunt Jackie’s CMO Kendria Strong came up from the audience and presented the gymnasts with a check for $25,000!
Aunt Jackie’s Curls and Coils — which has provided $3 million in funding to HBCUs — creates quality and affordable hair care for a range of hair types, including curly, coily, and wavy textures.
