Jennifer Hudson couldn’t help but do a little dance while watching viral father-daughter beatboxing duo Ed Cage and Nicole Paris!
On Wednesday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” the viral sensations from St. Louis, Missouri, sat down with JHud to discuss their surprise Internet fame.
The pair first went viral in 2015 when a clip of them spittin’ racked up over 200 million views. Seven years later on TikTok, the duo went viral again when their video garnered over 22 million views in less than a month.
In their interview with Jennifer, Ed explained that he first began his craft when “hip-hop was brand new,” and began battling other beatboxers after his two uncles DJ’ed a set.
“Once I got good, I had to make sure that I could beat everybody else in the neighborhood,” Ed said.
While discussing their styles, Ed said his beatboxing technique is similar to a TR-808, a drum machine that can program rhythms. On the other hand, Nicole is very animated and will take whatever she sees, hears, and feels and turn that into a beat.
“It’s like a message. I’m very animated,” she explained. “I just start doing stuff and adding stuff.”
In fact, Ed knew that his daughter possessed master beatboxing skills when they collaborated after she came back from college and he “barely beat her.”
Despite their playful rivalry, Ed is extremely proud of Nicole, who acknowledges her father’s influence.
“That’s Pops. That’s the mentor. He taught me, you know, the basics,” she said.
Of course, Jennifer had to get in on the fun and asked Ed and Nicole to teach her how to beatbox. While Nicole did the scrap and Ed did the bass, the father-daughter duo appointed JHud to do the snare.

Later in the episode, Ed and Nicole performed a special song for Jennifer and viewers.
“You took your sip. He’s gonna get real serious,” Jennifer exclaimed to Nicole and Ed as they prepared to perform. “Pops got up!”
Needless to say, Ed and Nicole brought the house down — prompting both Jennifer and the audience to get up and dance!
“Welcome to the JHud show!” Nicole rapped.
“That might have to be my second theme song!” Jennifer said.
After Ed and Nicole’s sensational set, Jennifer didn’t let them walk away without a super blinged-out gift!
