JHud Is a Chic ‘Church Girl’ While Interviewing Sheryl Lee Ralph & Indy Bugg

Jennifer Hudson is paying homage to her roots.

The daytime TV host looked chic and classy in a lavender Ganni button-down shirt, beige Fendi print pencil skirt, and silver metallic Bottega Veneta heels, on Tuesday’s show.

When Jenn found out that she would be interviewing Sheryl Lee Ralph, she wanted to wear an outfit that honored revered women in the Black community, stylist Verneccia “V” Étienne, says.

Jennifer got her start singing with her church’s choir in Chicago and she also wanted to incorporate a “church girl vibe” into her ensemble.

Jennifer sat down with “Abbott Elementary” actress Sheryl and discussed her viral Emmys speech in which Sheryl brought the house down by singing lines from Dianne Reeves' song "Endangered Species."

While Sheryl admits she has prepared her Emmys acceptance speech since she was 5, she was in “such absolute shock” when she won and her speech “went out her head”!

Later in the episode, “Dreamgirls” star Jennifer — who played Effie White in the 2006 film adaptation — and Sheryl — who portrayed Deena Jones in the original 1981 Broadway musical — came together and performed a “step, touch” from the storied production.

Jennifer also had the chance to interview 10-year-old viral sensation Indy Bugg, who dazzled the audience with a dance to Lizzo’s “About Damn Time.”

During the sit-down, Indy sang a line from the iconic “Dreamgirls” song “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” and told Jenn how excited she was to meet “a queen.”
