Laverne Cox on Being Her Best Self at 50

Age 50 and proud, Laverne Cox is still experiencing life’s firsts!
The “Orange Is the New Black” alum appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” and told Jennifer Hudson about her “amazing” relationship.
Though the “If We’re Being Honest” host said she likes to “keep it private,” she dished that she and her boyfriend met two years ago and have a “beautiful” relationship.
“This feels like a spiritual connection. He and I are in awe of it. It feels like God,” the transgender activist said.
While Laverne had “so many ideas” about turning 50 — “Am I still desirable?” — she declared she is living her “best life” and has “experienced [love] for the first time.”
“I’m having the best sex of my life,” Laverne added. She later told Jennifer her ideal date night consists of watching a movie while cuddling on the couch.
Earlier in the episode, Laverne discussed her big 50th birthday party in New York.
Around the time of the bash, she teamed up with toy company Mattel to create a doll with a likeness similar to hers.
For her party, Laverne recreated her “Barbie” outfit, consisting of a bustier and a skirt that can detach to reveal a catsuit.
Laverne appropriately picked the song “Barbie Girl” by Aqua to be played at her fabulous event.
Later in the episode, Laverne shared how she spent her first big paycheck and told the audience that she used to wash dishes at her college’s dining hall.
“I was grossed out by it. I lasted a few weeks. God does not want me doing this,” she said about the gig.
